Amazing Art Creation Tool I’ve Been Experimenting With: Deep Dream Generator
Deep Dream is form of artificial intelligence that allows you to impose the style of one image onto the structure of another. It does this through a bunch of complicated math that I’ve been trying to figure out for a while, with little success. Thankfully though, the literal program is easy to use, and the results are stunning. Here’s a very rough description of how it works:
- Start with a photo
2. Pick another with which you’d like to “combine” it
3. Play around with the settings, and click go. This is an example of what you can get:
Here’s an example of the same photo when mixed with a different template:

In order to create HD photos with Deep Dream, you are require to pay $8 a month… Which I just did… so you can probably expect to see plenty more of these in the future. If you’d like to make some for yourself, click here. If I remember correctly, you can create six free, non-HD photos per day. For an excellent written tutorial on how to use the program, click here. YouTube Channel I’ve been enjoying: Josh Turner Guitar
This guy creates some of the best guitar covers on youtube, and some really cool original content as well.

Cool Piece of Tech of Wearable Tech: The Oura Ring
I’m pretty obsessed with data. In particular, I’m obsessed with data pertaining to the human body. Thankfully, it has never been easier for everyday citizens to collect this type of data, largely due to the advent of wearable biotracking technology. One such piece of technology that has captured my interest is the Oura Ring. This little smart ring gives you a massive amount of information about the functioning of your systems and unlike much of the earlier technology of this nature, it isn’t a bulky nuisance.
The video below does an excellent job detailing what the ring can show you, and what this data says about your health/condition.
Note: Part of what makes the ring expensive (It costs $299) is the sheer number of metrics that it measures. If you watch the video and one of the metrics strikes you as potentially worth measuring for your personal health situation, I’m guessing you can find a less expensive piece of tech that is specifically tailored to track it.
Another cool piece of tech that I’d love to buy if it wasn’t so pricey: Meural
Meural is a digital canvas that can display virtually any image, from photos you’ve shot with your iPhone, to classical works of art. Although many of you have no doubt seen previous generation of digital canvas, this one is miles ahead of anything that has come before it.
Note: I first learned about this company at a recent visit to the new-tech retail store b8ta. If you’re in Seattle and looking to check out some new tech, you should give this place a visit. They have a whole host of products like Meural that’ll blow your mind.
